Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series returns on Friday, May 5

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series returns to Tazewell Speedway on a new weekend. The Toyota of Knoxville/Ted Russell Ford/Secret City Dodge 50 is set for Friday, May 5. The $10,000 to win race is expected to draw a huge crowd with some big names vying for the 2017 championship.

Defending series champion and defending Toyota of Knoxville/Ted Russell Ford/Secret City Dodge 50 winner Scott Bloomquist is back to defend his title and has tough competition in the early part of the 2017 campaign. Former World of Outlaws champion has made the change to the Best Motorsports team in 2017 with the purpose of knocking off Bloomquist for this year’s title. While Bloomquist and Richards are focused on the top spot, former series champions Jimmy Owens and Don O’Neal along with Tim McCreadie are also within striking distance of the top two.

Other series regulars that are a factor week in and week out are Darrell Langian, Earl Pearson Jr., Dennis Erb, Steve Francis, Colton Flinner, along with rookie contenders Greg Satterlee, Hudson On’Neal, and Boom Briggs

The LOLMDS regulars will have to battle regional favorites such as Billy Ogle Jr., Donald McIntosh, Chad Ogle, Dakotah Knuckles, Jeff Wolfenbarger, and others.

Also on the racing program for May 5 will be the sportsman division for $800 to win, super streets for $700 to win and classis cars for $300 to win each.

Pit gates open at 2:00 and grandstand gates open at 5:00. The drivers meeting is scheduled for 7:00. Hot laps and time trials will begin at 7:45.

Grandstand tickets are $25 for adults, kids 9 and under are free. Pit passes are $40, kids 12 and under are $30 with a signed minor’s release.

Fans are welcome to bring in lawn chairs for the turn 4 hillside seating areas. Fans are asked not to use lawn chairs in the grandstand area due to the size of the crowd expected for this event.
