Just over a week after hosting the biggest crowd to witness a race at Tazewell Speedway it was back to the regular racing program at the high-banked speedplant. Super Stocks were on showcase with $1,000 on the line for the winner of the Dirty Thirty feature. Kurt Owens of Newport, who was searching for his third win in a row, outqualified the rest of the field to earn the pole for the main event with Tazewell’s Brad Davis earning the outside front row starting spot. Sportsman standout Jonathan Miracle was picked to pilot the Petty Motorsports entry yet crashed in hot laps with heavy rear suspension damage.
Owens took the point with the drop of the green as Davis and Austin Neely of Tazewell gave chase. Before the second lap could be scored Davis would bring out the caution as he climbed the wall between turns three and four. After changing a flat right rear tire Davis would restart at the tail of the field. Suffering bad luck all season long Neely was hoping to bring home a solid finish. He would stay within reach of Owens until lap fifteen when his car slowed on the speedway. Davis would suffer from the bad luck bug as he tagged the wall again in the slowing laps. Up front Owens would lead every lap for his third win in a row and his fourth overall win at Tazewell Speedway this season
