Jason Trammell of Knoxville reached a milestone on Saturday night that only a select few have achieved as the third-generation driver scored his one hundreth career victory. It was only fitting that he would pick up the win at the track that his late Grandfather Charlie and father Jack picked up wins and the site of Jason’s first win.

Fourteen Limited Model drivers signed in with Trammell setting quick time in qualifying with a blistering lap of 11.690 seconds. Knoxville’s Adam Beeler, in his first start at Tazewell Speedway this season, was the only other driver to record a sub 12 second lap with a time of 11.953 seconds. After the invert draw, third fastest qualifier Dakotah Knuckles of Ewing, VA would start on the pole of the thirty lap feature with Beeler sharing the front row.

Bringing the field to the green flag Knuckles would jump into the lead as Beeler and Trammell raced door to door for second. On the second lap Trammell would slip by Beeler for the spot and set his sights on Knuckles. Two laps later Trammell would dive low in turn three and power his way past Knuckles as the duo came out of turn four. The caution flag would fly on lap thirteen for a spin by Josh Evans. During the caution Beeler would duck pitside with an overheating engine. Back under green Trammell smashed the loud pedal to put distance between himself and Knuckles. Behind them Greg Estes of Jonesville, VA and Josh Collins of Powell battled for the third. Former track champion Bryan Hendrix of Knoxville would pass Estes for fourth with five laps to go.

With almost a half-track advantage over second place Trammell would cruise the rest of the way for his seventh Tazewell Speedway win of the season and career win one hundred in the Fastlane Signs & Graphics, Quality Medical Center, Trammell Construction, Hatmaker Holdings, High Velocity Heads, Integra Shocks, Charlie Brown Screen Printing & Embroidery, Hoosier Tire by Pup, Vic Hill Race Engine powered Rayburn Race Car.

Anthony Burchett of Harrogate survived a clash with a lap car and took the lead away from Clyde Overholt of Tazewell to collect his first Sportsman win of the season. Former Limited Late Model standout Travis Fultz of Harrogate would set fast time in qualifying with a lap of 12.147 seconds with Burchett qualifying second. Overholt, who was looking for his sixth win of the season, would start on the pole of the twenty lap feature after the invert draw. Blasting down the front stretch Overholt would take the lead as Burchett, Anthony Arnwine, Fultz and Kyle Courtney gave chase. As the field went down the back chute Fultz would take third and Aaron Guinn would move into fifth.

Throughout most of the feature Burchett was able to keep pace with Overholt with Fultz lurking in the third spot. With three laps to go the leaders had caught up with the tail end of the field. Just as they were coming down the front stretch the car of Mark Philpot was directly in middle of the track. Taking evasive action Burchett would go to the lowside just as Philpot moved down. Burchett would collide with Philpot and suffer heavy right side body damage yet never let out of the gas. Overholt would take the high side and back out of the throttle to keep from losing control in turn one. Diving to the bottom Burchett would take the lead away from Overholt to score his first win of the season piloting the Discount Parts City, Hancock Home Health, Monster Energy Drink sponsored Warrior Race Car. In Victory Lane Burchett dedicated the win to his grandfather who recently passed away.
