Jason Trammell of Knoxville slipped past Dakotah Knuckles of Ewing, VA on the tenth lap of the Limited Late Model feature to score his second win in a row at the 1/3 mile speed plant. Knuckles was quickest in time trials with a lap opf 12.189 seconds with Steve Smith of Powell recording the second fastest time. As the field was lining up for the feature Smith’s car was scratched from the event with mechanical woes. This would move Trammell up to the outside of the front row beside Knuckles.

At the drop of the green Knuckles took the point followed by Trammell, Brian Hendrix, Anthony Arnwine and Brian Shockley. Eight laps in Knuckles had his hands full holding off the challenge from Trammell and Hendrix. On lap ten Knuckles slid up out of the groove entering turn four allowing Trammell to go low and take the lead away. On the next lap Hendrix would spin after making contact with Knuckles in turn three. Up front Trammell would go unchallenged to notch his second victory in a row in the Fastlane Signs & Graphics, Quality Medical Center, Trammell Construction, Hatmaker Holdings, High Velocity Heads, Integra Shocks, Charlie Brown Screen Printing & Embroidery, Hoosier Tire by Pup sponsored Rayburn Race Car with power from a Vic Hill Race Engine.

Jonathan Miracle of Tazewell led every lap of the Sportsman feature to score his first Late Model win. The veteran driver with over 30 Pure Street victories moved up into the Sportsman division full time last season. Miracle was quickest in qualifying with a lap of 12.489 seconds with Matt Tharp of Luttrell qualifying second. After three attempts at a double file start failed due to several spins the field was lined up single file.
Grabbing the early lead Miracle set the pace with Tharp and last week’s winner Michael Boyd of Morristown in tow. On lap five Tharp brought out the caution as he spun in turn two and retired from the race with a broken brake rotor.  Using the experience from his years of driving a much heavier Pure Street truck Miracle held off Boyd in the closing laps for his first Sportsman win in the Petty’s Wrecker Service, Noah’s Wholesale, Tim Fletcher Heating & Air, Eagle Race Engine powered Rayburn Race Car.
