The American Crate All-Star Series Presented by PPM Racing Productskicked off the highly anticipated series at Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, Tennessee as part of the 10th Annual Charles Trammell Memorial.
In the very first group of two on the track, Aaron Guinn of Russellville would set a time of 12.7660 in qualifying and no one would be able to take it down. Jensen Ford came the closest with a time of 12.8335. Brandon Williams of Crossville only missed second position in qualifying by .0004 with a time of 12.8339.The Phantom Racing Engines Quick 6 Dash was just that! A very quick six laps. Piney Flats native Jensen Ford would get Aaron Guinn on the start of the dash and never look back, sailing to a victory under the Wrisco Industries Inc. Checker Flag in only one minute and twenty seconds.
Tennessee Racer Anthony White of Clinton would lead the field to the green flag in the second heat race. He would take the lead until lap four when the caution would fly for Tyler Smith’s drive shaft. A brief red flag would be displayed by Chief Starter Ralph Munsey as track work took place because the drive shaft dug into the track. When racing would resume Anthony White would pick back up right where he left off and lead the rest of the way.
Heat two was all about Karns’ Ross White in the Brucebilt Performance Parts #0. On lap two Clay Coghlan of Pigeon Forge would get high and get the wall ever so slightly. He would get a little right rear sheet metal damage and may need some new Wrisco Aluminum, but even with the damage was able to hold on to the 5th place he was running. The race would stay green and Ross White would take the win in heat two.
Jensen Ford would lead the field to the much anticipated 10th Annual Charles Trammell Memorial as rain was on the way. The green flag would fly and thirty-three laps of exciting green flag racing got underway. Ford would jump to an early lead and was in lapped traffic in only eight laps. Ross White got a great start from 8th and quickly moved to sixth in his first lap. Lap two saw Brandon Williams pull to the infield, after being strong early in the night and winning hot laps, bad luck struck with radiator issues. Battles were going on through the field as Jonesborough’s Bobby Mays and Josh “Boo” Henry of Newport were both after third and chasing Aaron Guinn. Bradley Lewelling and Jason Trammell were making their way from middle of the field starting spots toward the front after just 6 laps. Ford meticulously made his way through lapped traffic following Andy Ogle who was on the tail end of the lead lap, but making passes to try to stay on the lead lap as Ford followed for many laps. Aaron Guinn continued about the same distance behind the leader. Green flag racing and battling continued with exciting battles until the yellow flag flew for Tazewell’s Jonathan Miracle on lap 33 who had a flat tire.
The green flag would fly once again and one lap later Ogle would have a spin, but no harm no foul, and we all lined up and went at it again. This meant there would be a six lap shootout to the finish. Ford would get a great restart, but so would White moving from fifth to fourth and then third with his eyes set on Guinn. The laps were ticking though and time would expire on the race. Jensen Ford would lead all forty laps picking up the victory in the Whitehead Performance Racing, Green Tree Motors & Storage, McCoy Land Surveying, River Gardens, Quality Detailing MSR Mafia Marketing Solutions sponsored, Eagle Race Engines powered TNT Race Car.
