Tazewell Speedway
Southern Thunder Series debuts on July 4th
Racing returns to Tazewell Speedway on Friday, July 4 when the Southern Thunder Super Dirt Series visits for the Melvin Corum Memorial. A prize of $7,5000 awaits the winner.
Zack Mitchell is the series points leader heading into the Melvin Corum Memorial. Beckham Malone, Dalton Cook, and Michael Brown are just some of the series regulars that will take on local stars such as Jensen Ford, Travis Fultz, and more.
Also racing on July 4 will be sportsman late models for $800 to win, street stocks for $500 to win, and classic cars for $500 to win.
During intermission, there will be a fireworks show.
Pit gates open at 3:00, grandstand gates open at 5:00. The drivers’ meeting is scheduled for 7:00. Hot laps and time trials will begin at 7:30.
Grandstand tickets are $25 for adults, kids 9 and under are free. Pit passes are $40, kids 12 and under are $30 with a signed minor's release.

Tazewell Speedway is located just two miles northwest of Tazewell, Tennessee. Going north on US 25-E, turn right and then left onto Bacchus Rd, and then 1.8 miles north, then .8 miles west and the racetrack is located on the left.
