Racing resumes with Lil Bill Corum Memorial on April 19

Racing returns to Tazewell Speedway with the 5th annual Lil Bill Corum Memorial 75 presented by Toyota of Knoxville on Saturday, April 19. The $21,000 to win race is expected to draw some big names in dirt late model racing and will be the next stop for the Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals. Dale McDowell is the defending race winner.

Drivers that are pre-entered will be eligible for the $2,100 bonus money provided by Toyota of Knoxville. The driver that sets fast time will receive $1,050. A six-car dash will determine the starting spots for the first three rows. The winner of the dash will receive $1,050.

Lil Bill Corum was one of the most successful racers in East Tennessee in a career that spanned from the late 1950’s through the 1980’s. He is a member of three different halls of fame and won over 300 features during his career.

Also racing will be sportsman late models for $1,000 to win, classic cars for $600 to win, street stocks for $600 to win, and a $2,500 to win Enduro race. There is a $150 entry fee for the Enduro race.

Pit gates open at 2:00, grandstand gates open at 4:00. The drivers’ meeting is scheduled for 6:30. Hot laps and time trials will begin at 7:00. Four wheels are allowed with a race car in the pits. Side-by-sides and personal vehicles will not be allowed in the pit area.

Grandstand tickets are $30 for adults, kids 9 and under are free. Pit passes are $45, kids 12 and under are $35 with a signed minor’s release. Camping spots, with electric, are $25, pay at the main gate. Those are first come, first serve. The handicap section is also first come, first serve.

Fans are welcome to bring in lawn chairs for the turn 4 hillside seating areas. Fans are asked not to use lawn chairs in the grandstand area due to the size of the crowd expected for this event.

Tazewell Speedway is located just two miles northwest of Tazewell, Tennessee. Going north on US 25-E, turn right and then left onto Bacchus Rd, and then 1.8 miles north, then .8 miles west and the racetrack is located on the left.
