Tazewell Speedway hosts another super late model event on Saturday, July 1 with the co-sanctioned Schaeffer’s Southern Nationals Bonus Series presented by Tennessee RV and Sunoco and Iron Man Championship Late Models for $5,000 to win.
David Payne leads the Southern Nationals Bonus Series point standings just ahead of Donald McIntosh. Payne won on his most recent visit to Tazewell Speedway last September. Carder Miller leads the Iron Man Championship Late Models.
Other expected drivers include Vic Hill, Billy Ogle Jr., Dakotah Knuckles, Chad Ogle, Steve Smith, and more.
The Brucebilt Performance Iron Man Modified Series will also be racing for $1,000 to win.
Also racing on Saturday will be sportsman, super stocks, classics, and four cylinders. The Tazewell Late Models will not be racing.
General admission tickets are $20 for adults with kids 9 and under admitted free with a paying adult. Pit passes are $35. Pit gates open at 4:00 and grandstand gates open at 5:00. Racing will start at 7:45.
The tire rule for the Southern Nationals Bonus Series/Iron-Man Late Model-sanctioned event at Tazewell Speedway will be as follows: Hoosier 1350 and 1600 along with the American Racer 48 and 56 compounds. The Late Model series entry fee is $100. Also, the highest finishing driver using a CT525 engine package will receive a $200 bonus and the highest finishing driver using a Steel Head/SPEC engine package will receive a $200 bonus courtesy of the series.
The Modified tire rule for the event will be as follows: Front- Medium, A40S, M-30s, A40, Hard, H40, & M-60 (siping allowed on front due to carry-over from 2016 season); Rear- Hoosier A40S, M-30S, A40, Hard, H40, M-60 and American Racer Hard and Extra Hard with no grooving allowed. The only tires that can be siped on the rear is the Hoosier M-60 and American Racer Extra Hard.
