“Mr. Showtime” Dakotah Knuckles used the luck of the invert draw to score his second win in a row at Tazewell Speedway in front of a large crowd on a beautiful Saturday night. In time trials Jason Trammell of Knoxville would turn in the fastest lap of 11.678 seconds with fellow Knoxvillian Brad Hall turning the second quickest lap of 11.875 seconds. Trammell would draw a three on the invert draw giving Knuckles the pole position for the thirty lap feature alongside Hall.
From the drop of the green Knuckles seized the lead trailed by Hall, Josh Collins of Powell, Trammell and Matthew Holt of Thorn Hill. Collins and Trammell would battle side by side in the early going for the third spot. On lap eleven Collins would pull pit side with smoke trailing from behind his car
Meanwhile up front Knuckles distanced himself from Hall and would lead every lap of the feature for his second win in a row and third overall season victory in the Hickory Star Resort & Marina, Marcum Oil, Jovida Enterprises, Florida Vet Cardiology, Fast Lane Sign & Graphics, Vic Hill Racing Engine powered Rocket Race Car.

David Clark of Tazewell also used the invert draw to his advantage to notch his second win of the season in a stout Sportsman feature field. Current Sportsman points leader Clyde Overholt was fastest in qualifying with a lap of 12.167 seconds with Clark turning in the second quickest time of 12.204 seconds. Overholt would draw the two on the invert which gave the pole position to Clark.
Bringing the field to the green Clark quickly jumped into the lead with Overholt, Tazewell natives Jonathan Miracle and Anthony Arnwine and Morristown’s Gary Blanken battling for the top five spots. Phillip Shockley would bring out the caution on lap three as he spun coming off of turn four. On the restart Arnwine would retire with a broken driveshaft.
By lap eight Clark had opened up a six car length lead over Overholt. The final caution would fly on lap twelve for debris on the track. Overholt would mount a challenge for the lead on the restart yet it was Clark’s night as he would lead every lap of the feature for his second win of the season. Clark’s Custom Race Engine powered Rayburn Race Car is sponsored by Slim & Trim Weight Loss Center, Wallace Auto Sales, Kiddie Land Day Care Center, 1st Class Towing & Recovery, Shorty’s Shock Service, Allen Lester and Round Top Farms.
