Lil’ Bill Corum Memorial coming up July 3

Tazewell Speedway returns to racing action this Monday, July 3 with the 3rd annual Lil Bill Corum Memorial presented by Toyota of Knoxville. The $21,000 to win race will be co-sanctioned by the Schaffer’s Spring Nationals and the Valvoline Iron Man Late Model Series.

Drivers that pre-entered earlier this year are eligible for a $2,100 fast time award. Those drivers include Dale McDowell, Jimmy Owens, Brandon Overton, Tyler Erb, Michael Chilton, Dakotah Knuckles, Ricky Weiss, Austin Neely, Steve Smith, David Payne, Stacy Boles, Brian Shockley, Ryan King, Mack McCarter, Ross Bailes, John Llewellyn, Jason Trammell, and Carson Ferguson.

Lil Bill Corum was one of the most successful racers in East Tennessee in a career that spanned from the late 1950’s through the 1980’s. He is a member of three different halls of fame and won over 300 features during his career.

Also racing will be sportsman late models for $1,000 to win and classic cars for $600 to win. There will be a fireworks show during the intermission.

Pit gates open at 2:00, grandstand gates open at 5:00. The drivers’ meeting is scheduled for 7:00. Hot laps and time trials will begin at 7:45. Four wheels are allowed with a race car in the pits. Side-by-sides and personal vehicles will not be allowed in the pit area.

Grandstand tickets are $30 for adults, kids 9 and under are free. Pit passes are $45, kids 12 and under are $35 with a signed minor’s release. Camping spots, with electric, are $25, pay at the main gate. Those are first come, first serve. The handicap section is also first come, first serve.

Fans are welcome to bring in lawn chairs for the turn 4 hillside seating areas. Fans are asked not to use lawn chairs in the grandstand area due to the size of the crowd expected for this event.

Credentials will be limited for this event and will only be issued to those working for a credible media organization.

Going north on US 25-E, turn right and then left onto Bacchus Rd, and then 1.8 miles north, then .8 miles west and the race track is located on the left.
